Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival
Incorporated into the Royal Welsh Spring Festival, the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival has quickly established itself as one of the UK’s largest trail running events, offering a series of thrilling and scenic races in the heart of Mid-Wales.
Castell Howell Foods are the Principal Partner of the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival, which is delivered by Run 4 Wales – the mass participation events team behind the Cardiff Half Marathon.
The 10K and Half Marathon trail courses start and finish in the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells and take in valleys, fields, woodland tracks and stunning forestry. The 3K Trail, Family Mile and Toddler Trail, offer something for all ages and abilities.
This year brings a host of exciting changes. With the race expected to grow in size even further, race packs will now be posted prior to the event, and 10K and half marathon races will start separately in a new and improved start and finish area, located next to a revamped race village. Competitors will now be chip-timed as they cross the start and finish line, whilst family and friends can track their progress on a brand-new smartphone app.
Race entry fees include a bespoke unique commemorative medal, technical finishers t-shirt (for half marathon and 10K) and free entry into the Royal Welsh Spring Festival – a celebration of rural life with entertainment, workshops, livestock, trade stands and a street food quarter – the perfect place to unwind after running the trails.
Runners are encouraged to fundraise for Prostate Cymru – our Lead Charity.
Camping Packages are available for those wanting to make a weekend of the Spring Festival.
